Retro Core is back. In this new series I finally have a green screen although my use of it in this first show isn't too good. Better lighting is needed I think. Also in this new series each show will have it's own theme plus I'll be using 100% real hardware. No emulation at all.
Volume 2 of Retro Core 5 is here, taking a look at Neo Geo ports acrosss 16 and 32 bit systems. 12 games in total are covered. Of course I'd love to cover more but there are at least 20 or so on the Sega Saturn alone. You may be wondering what happened to the likes of Twinkle Star Sprites or Puzzle Bobble or even some other the other fighting games on the Game Gear or Game Boy. Well, they will be covered in the 2nd part of this show which will be coming later in the year so don't worry. I've not forgotten about them :) This show only takes a look at some of the 16 and 32 bit ports.
t has taken almost 2 months to get the show done but it's finally here. In volume 3 of Retro Core 5 we take a look at 18 titles from the PlayStation 2's Sega Ages series. While there are actually 33 titles in the series I only own 18 of them which are all featured in this video. Titles included are: Monaco GP - Fantasy Zone - Space Harrier - Golden Axe - Tanto R & Bonanza Brothers - Virtua Racing - After Burner II - Hokuto No Ken - Out Run - Alien Syndrom - Virtua Fighter 2 - Fighting Vipers - SDI & Quartet - Last Bronx - Dynamite Deka (Die Hard Arcade) - Panzer Dragoon - Galaxy Force II and finally Fantasy Zone Complete Collection.
I grew up gaming in the late 8 Bit and 16 Bit days and have many fond memories of my favourite type of game, the 2D vertical shooter. In this Retro Core we take a look at 9 classics from the 90's over 3 systems. Games featured (not in order) PC Engine - Final Zone II, Final Soldier and Psychic Storm Super Famicom - Pop'n Twinbee, Super Aleste and Kikikaikai Mega Drive - Elemental Master, Slap Fight MD and Musha Aleste Enjoy!
NOTICE: The video quality of the Pandora's Box when connected to the capture card is not a fault of the Pandora's Box. The image is rather funky due to my capture card not liking the Supergun's video output. Pandora's Box 3, some people love it, others hate it. Many of the reviews are also quite bias. Today I take a look at the Pandora's Box 3 and tell you the truth about this little box of arcade hits.
In the last volume of Retro Core 5 we took a look at the Chinese plug'n play arcade solution, Pandora's Box 3. It wasn't without it's problems. Today we take a look at the Game King 2019 in 1 system.
Retro Core is back for the last show of the year but not to worry I've got many more shows planned for 2016. In Volume 7 we take a look at 10 arcade VS fighters you've probably never seen or played or even knew about. Are they all complete rubbish or are there some gems amongst the dung?
Retro Core is back for the last show of the year but not to worry I've got many more shows planned for 2016. Scrolling Beat'em Ups were once all the rage but then they started to die away. many people know about Double Dragon, Final Fight and maybe even Undercover Cops but there are so many others out there. In Volume 8 of Retro Core we take a look at 10 scrolling beat'em ups you may have never played before!
In this week's Retro Core 5 we are taking a look at a type of game I really do love to play, the arcade racer! Ten games featured so pull up the chair, get some snacks and enjoy the show.
Back in the mid to early 90's there were not that many polygon based arcade games mainly due to the technology being too expensive and well, really slow. So Japanese software developers started to make 3D games using sprites. Sega were by far the most advanced in this form of gaming with Taito following close behind. In Volume 10 of Retro Core 5, we take a look at 10 classic sprite based 3D games. Enjoy!
Run'n Gun games were all the rage from the mid 80's well in to the 90's thanks to the likes of Metal Slug. These days you don't see them that often in the arcades. In this volume of Retro Core 5 we take a look at 9 arcade Run'n Gun titles. Enjoy!
In Volume12 of Retro Core 5 we take a look at the Super Famicom hardware, the game boxes, manuals and the games. Enjoy

NOTICE - The Splatter House section has had around 1 minute cut from it due to a copyright claim by NamcoBandai. Sorry about that. The intro to that section is now missing. In the late 80's and early 90's home computer games were hit and miss in the west while most arcade conversions were a joke. In japan on the other had the world of computer gaming was a whole different story. We had the Sharp X68000 bringing us arcade perfect ports but at a very expensive price. This is where the Fujitsu FM Towns comes in. It's basically an Intel CPU powered PC with later models being able to run Windows. Yet it also features custom graphical hardware. Let's take a look at how a Japanese home computer coped with arcade gaming as well as original gaming for the home. All game footage in this video was recorded via RGB at 60fps from a real FM TOWNS II Fresh computer. No emulation was used in this video.
