Soichi Shindo has been appointed as the new anchor of the night news program "Newsgate" on the commercial TV station JBN. "Newsgate" is a flagship program with a 40-year history, but in recent years its viewer ratings have been sluggish. In an effort to turn things around, JBN's Chairman Sadao Kunisada lured him away from the public broadcasting station. On his first day in office, Shindo tells the staff, "I'm here to fix this program." Sakikubo Hana, who has just been selected as the program's general director, is caught between Shindo and the veteran staff , declaring one unconventional style after another. The highlight of the first episode of the renewed series is a live appearance by Chief Cabinet Secretary Tsuyoshi Hanyu. However, his secretary suddenly cancels the appearance.

Police raided a sports bar in Roppongi, and employees and customers were arrested on suspicion of gambling. JBN was in a panic when they found out that Japan's volleyball ace Nawa (Suzuki Takayuki) and announcer Koike (Tsukishiro Kanato) , who were also there, were voluntarily taken into custody. What's more, E-Stream, who learned of the commotion, said it would withdraw from its role as the main sponsor of the International Volleyball Championship. If that happens, JBN, which sponsors the international volleyball championship, will suffer a huge loss. It could also affect the program budget. Shindo (Abe Hiroshi) goes to meet Nishina (Miyagawa Ichirota), the president of E-Stream, and declares that he will reveal Nawa's innocence.

"Newsgate" has an exclusive interview with Shinomiya (Non), a researcher who has announced new cells that are said to revolutionize regenerative medicine. However, Shindo (Abe Hiroshi) is also interviewing another person on his own...

When a voyeurism scandal breaks out at Kaiba's (Okabe Takashi) daughter's junior high school, Hana (Nagano Mei) and her friends head to the school, accompanied by Shindo (Abe Hiroshi). In fact, Shindo's daughter, Sumire (Horikoshi Reika), also attends the same junior high school...

Police Chief Takeno (Ogawa Tamaki), who filed a whistleblower case, suddenly changes his mind just before the interview and denies the incident itself. Kajiwara (Tamaki Reo) begins to investigate the truth, but Shindo (Abe Hiroshi) runs for one-day police chief.

Fujii (Nakamura Anne) wants to transplant her brain-dead husband's lungs into her daughter, but an article in a weekly magazine turns sympathy into criticism. When she investigates the truth, she comes across a certain organization that Shindo (Abe Hiroshi) is also pursuing...

Shindo (Abe Hiroshi) contacts Fukazawa (Niiro Shinya), the CEO of "Himawari Net," for the first time in 18 years. Hana (Nagano Mei), who suspects the relationship between Shindo and Fukazawa, is suddenly confronted by her father, who has been missing for many years.

A forest fire breaks out in Yamai's (Otoo Takuma) hometown, where a nuclear power facility is located, and his father goes missing. In the area, Shindo (Abe Hiroshi) reunites with Ozaki (Tanida Ayumu), a former secretary to the director-general, and asks for his cooperation in disaster prevention measures, but...

Shindo (Abe Hiroshi) is urged by Kunisada (Takahashi Hideki) to retire from being a newscaster. While investigating Kazuo's (Yamamoto Manabu) downfall, he comes across something and tries to uncover the truth about something that happened 43 years ago involving his father...

Shindo (Abe Hiroshi) presses Kunisada (Takahashi Hideki) about why an article about his father's story from 43 years ago was never published. Meanwhile, JBN faces fierce criticism due to a scandal surrounding the program.
