Episode 1: Eldstriden
- Now playing
- Jan 17, 2018
In the 1970s, serious break-ins occurred at a number of depots vital to the Swedish Armed Forces. What actually happened that night, when gunshots pierced the dense darkness? It was an incident that marked the Armed Forces' last firefight on Swedish soil—one that could have ended in an unimaginable tragedy. *Cold War Secrets* is a Swedish documentary series from SVT that highlights unknown, hidden, and dramatic events, as well as military preparations, in Sweden during the Cold War.
Episode 2: More than a pattern
- 10m
- Jan 31, 2018
The uniform pattern acts like a flag, representing a country’s identity. Ours features a refined four-color palette, with sections inspired by ash, forest, sea, and earth. But how are a uniform and its pattern created, and how much more can a garment reveal than what meets the eye?
Episode 3: Prisoners of war
- 10m
- Feb 14, 2018
Prisoners of war have been taken throughout history. During the Cold War, Sweden prepared for the eventuality that tens of thousands of prisoners would need to be interned somewhere. The site chosen for the prison was an island in the middle of one of our largest lakes.
Episode 4: The Peashooter
- 10m
- Feb 27, 2018
Engelska Somewhere in Sweden lies a well-kept secret. A rugged, massive door leads into the weapons vault, where a significant portion of Sweden’s military heritage is housed. The weapon that once formed the backbone of Cold War-era Sweden supposedly couldn't even shoot through a leather jacket. Could that really be true?
Episode 5: The Bodybag
- 10m
- Mar 4, 2018
It is one of the Cold War’s strangest mysteries. Not a single one has been preserved, not even in a museum. Yet it shouldn't be that hard to find, given that hundreds of thousands were likely manufactured. This program is about the hunt for the “transport bag for the deceased”—commonly known as the body bag. Where are all the body bags today?
Episode 6: The Hidden Death
- 10m
- Mar 4, 2018
The landmine is perhaps the most evil weapon of all. A weapon that never tires, never goes hungry, and never gives up. And one that makes no distinction between friend and foe, adult and child.
